Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s Best Features

Call Of Duty Modern WarfareOne of the places that the video game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare scores consistently well is with its graphics. Even its harshest critics have declared the visuals to be nothing short of stunning and impressively realistic. There is an impressive amount of attention to detail in the graphics and every bit of this intense game is given the same loving attention.

At times, the visuals that are provided with Call of Duty 4 are almost distractingly realistic, but this is the price to be paid for good rendering. As with the previous games, CoD4 has impressive sound effects, and the quality of being completely immersed in the setting is very strong.

As with previous Call of Duty games, there is a terrific arsenal of weapons that are available to the players. Some of the weapons that you can find or loot off of dead squad members or enemies include the P90, the MP5, the M249 and of course the ubiquitous AK-47. At the start, you begin with the M4 and the G36C.

Of course, one of the most eagerly anticipated aspects of Call of Duty 4 was the multiplayer mode, which can support up to18 players over Xbox live. There are sixteen maps that can be played on right out of the box with plenty of different game-types that can appeal to a wide variety of gamers. There is the Hardcore mode of play where one shot equals a fatality, compared to Old School mode, where there is a lot more jumping and video game physics.

Call of Duty 4 has topped the list of popular video games for years, which speaks to its impressive playability and the astounding way that its visual and emotional world engages the player at an emotional and viseral level. This game has shown itself to be a true winner.

5 Stars COD 2 Rocks!!!!
Solid game play and very approachable. As a casual gamer I love this game!!!

2 Stars simple and fun but a bit boring
If 2 1/2 stars was an option that would be my rating. I’m a World War 2 buff so I enjoyed the realism and historical basis of this game but overall it’s just a basic, decent game to get your shooter fix. It’s an older game yet I was still impressed with the graphics and gameplay. My main complaint is that it gets boring. It lacks variety and it didn’t grab my interest enough to make me want to play it for very long stretches of time. I was rarely itching to play it the way I’ve been with other shooters. Of course part of the problem is that I’m used to playing such greats as Bioshock, Halo 3, Gears of War, and COD4. Call of Duty 2 certainly isn’t as good as COD4 but I only paid $10 for a brand new copy of this game and at that price or less it’s probably worth the money.

5 Stars Best WWII Game!
Call of Duty 2 has got to be the best World War II Game that I have played. I played both Call of Duty 2 and 3, but thought that Call of Duty 2 was better. You have a lot of cool battlefields and great grphics, totally awesome weapons, and lots of allies! I like to play as the americans the most, because well, I’m American! If you like WWII Games this is the game for you! Do not get Call of Duty 3!

1 Star load of crap
I found it difficult to move and very boring. No on screen help……I could have been stuck walking around for hours had I not ejected it from the Xbox then gave it away at work. Don’t waste your time or money on this.

4 Stars Very fun game
this is a fun WWII shooter if your looking for a great game get this one

5 Stars Good Game!
Had a lot of fun playing this one. Especially after paying $10 for it. Good Campaign!

3 Stars Has some exciting moments, but is generally flat
I have mixed feelings about this game. I can’t say it’s exactly a really great game, but I don’t feel that it’s bad either. Keeping in mind that the game was released in 2006, it’s definitely “dated” and therefore different than more recently released games.

The graphics are a mixed bag. The environments are complicated, diverse, and beautiful. There’s no repetition, and the levels are large. However, sometimes the graphics seem like a mix of current-gen and last gen, with some of the graphics having really bad 3D textures. There are several instances of texture pop. Quite often, characters will partially appear in walls, pop from one location to another, or hover in the air. These are graphical issues which cannot be forgiven.

The sound effects are good, and they make the weapons seem especially powerful — they are well-suited to the action and the items. The musical score is present at the right moment, swells at just the right moments, and helps to add to the excitement. However, enemy taunts are annoying — you hear the same phrases over and over again. And your own squad says the same annoying things over and over again, as you try to figure out exactly what you’re supposed to do. These things loop — and unfortunately remind you too often that you are playing a game.

Gameplay gets quite repetitive. The same enemies spawn and respawn in the same exact locations, and do exactly the same things over and over again. The patterns are predictable. Sometimes, it’s really hard to believe that there are that many enemies in a building, yet there they are. As you are able to push forward, the respawning stops, but it just starts all over again in the next area. There are several “quicktime” button-pressing sequences — such as setting fuses, and engaging in hand-to-hand combat, which add nothing to the gameplay and seem more like interruptions. There’s even a sequence when you need to use a crowbar to enter a doorway — it has no place in this game. These diversions detract from the combat and action.

Most annoying — you cannot skip CGI cutscenes, and the same CGI cutscenes will play when you load a saved game.

The game, however, plays well and the stories are engaging. There are many instances when this game gets really exciting — the music kicks in and swells, and you really feel like you’re doing something and saving the world. There is one level, in particular, in which you get to drive a tank — the controls are well-designed the gameplay is exciting. I didn’t really feel like I was part of the story until around level 4 (there are 14), so it takes a while to get into this game. The first couple of levels are quite boring. However, the last level and the last battle sequence makes it feel like this game is actually worth playing.

The game’s achievements are poorly implemented. Most of the game’s achievements are designed for online play, which at this point in time is mostly non-existent. There are several challenging achievements, but don’t expect to unlock them on a single play (without some planning, at least).

Overall this is a good game, but not a great game. It has a fairly solid single-player campaign, and is a decent tribute to WWII combat. After two years, though, there are much better games available and this will look dated as compared to newer games.

4 Stars Great game and the price is right
This game is great and hardly gets boring. The only problem i had was the controls from time to time. Other then that, this game is fun and kept me entertained……

4 Stars Lives up to the COD Standard
Call of Duty has been a favorite series of mine. This one does not disappoint. It puts you right in the action. You are there. Great fun.

5 Stars One word: Fun
This game is fun. It is very realistic, but the combat is not a brutal as some of the other Call of Duty games and it has a lot more story than others, too, so this game is probably for younger players, but teens and adults can play this too and like it a lot.

4 Stars maybe yea maybe nah
This game is alright.I think ( like most other war games, you should pick your weapons before a mission instead of being landed with any old gun. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good game but could use work. For instance, it took out the russians and added two other dumb-butt armies-the canadians and polish. Which means… NO PPSH!!!!!!!!!!!. Compared to other games say cod2 it stinks, compared to viva pinata it rocks. HAVE HAPPY HEADSHOTS!!!!

2 Stars It’s like playing cod2 all over.
I am an fps fan from way back. I enjoyed cod 1 & 2. cod3 feels like a retread to me. I would buy it again and play it again, but basically it is hard to become immersed in the suspense because it is so un-original. It is “okay.” Just do not get your hopes up.

3 Stars Not as fun as Call of Duty 2
When I first started playing Call of Duty 3 I felt mild about it. I liked it, but I didin’t like it. I mean in Call of Duty 3, you can drive more vehicles, but the guns weren’t as good as Call of Duty 2’s guns. The graphics for Call of Duty 3 were amazing! The sound was great, the gameplay wasn’t all so great. If I had to choose between Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 3 it would be Call of Duty 2. Call of Duty 3 is amazing at everything, but the gameplay. Rent Call of Duty 3 first and then decide about buying it.

4 Stars COD3 This is an overall excellent experience
Call of Duty 3 is an overall excellent experience from my pov regarding the single player campaign. I don’t have LIVE as of yet. But the intensity is very exciting, and extremely visceral. Along with the graphics and the sound it just makes for a very realistic gaming experience which I thoroughly enjoyed.

4 Stars Call Of Duty strikes again…but no Online Co-op?
this game isnt much different than the second one..nor is it better or worse than World At War…which also seems to tackle WW2 all over again?

anyways, Call Of Duty is the MOST realistic WAR game ever created, period. the guns handle and sound REALLY good, thats one thing this series does better than any. i dont care much for the storyline..as i put in cheats to unlock all the missions..so later for that. my only complaint is that theres no Online Co-op? playing online with Human counterparts is SOMEWHAT fun but can become boring. i hear there is 4 player online co-op in Call Of Duty: World At War..so maybe i should try that. either way if your looking for your shooter fix, any Call Of Duty game will give it to you in large doses.

iLL .
